JAN.
CATHOLIC NORTH
N. Catholic 47, La Salle 44
They're rolling now. With their overtime victory, North Catholic has moved to a 1-2 record for the season. In the first half North seemed surprised by the La Salle team that showed up for the game. With their outside scoring and ability to work the ball inside, La Salle made a statement by saying they could compete with one of the best defensive teams in the Catholic League. But it wasn't enough as North battled back behind some of the best fowards in the league. Down in the 4th quarter, North battled to keep hope alive and played hard defense until the end. La Salle kept their ground, but just could not seem to hold down sr. Hanif Edwards. With his fast movements on the court, Hanif sent one La Salle players' shoes one way and his body the other way. North had problems of its own trying to stop Clay Penecale from scoring from beyond the arc (18 points). Sr. Nate Edwards dropped 8 pts, 1 asst, 1 blk; Hanif Edwards scored 12 pts , 1 stl, 1 asst, 1blk; so. Shahid Paulhill had 6pts, 3rbs, 2blks; sr. Joe Rod scored 3pts, 1stl, 1rbs.
Slick's Hot Man of the Game
Goes to Chris Edwards for the second game second game in the row. He's has been a big attraction with his game play performance. No matter what the situation is, he always brings his A game. He left with 12pts, 4 boards, 1stl, 1blk. He has had a huge impact on North's offense so far.

JAN. 6
CATHOLIC LEAGUE
Judge 56, N. Catholic 53
The Falcons went into the game with a big chip on their shoulder after losing to a non-better team then them. They went into the game with a lot of intensity and prepared for a win. They began the game with a very slow start and ended the first half with the score at 21-21. Coming out of the half, North began to pull away with everyone at the game believing that they would come away with the win. But it just seemed like no one could hold onto sr. guard J.J. Franklin, as he brought Judge back into it. He ended with 19 pts, 3 asst and 2 stls. For NC, sr. PG Hanif Edwards ended with 10 pts, 3 stls, 2 asst. Sr. guard Nate Edwards had 7 pts, 2 stls, and jr. F Andrew Pomager dropped 13 pts.
Slick's Hot Man of the Game

With his overall play -- offense, defense, rebounding and dropping points on the offensive side. -- the award goes to jr, F Chris Edwards (14 pts, with 8 boards).

DEC. 20
NON-LEAGUE
North Catholic 63, Carroll 45
My name is “Slick” Rick Williams and I will be tuning you in to NC Basketball throughout the season with updates, highlights, and my own “Slick's Hot Man of the Game."
The Falcons have had a tough preseason so far, facing one of the more difficult schedules in the Catholic League. They have won a few and lost some tough ones to some good squads like Penn Charter (by 4) and a great OT game to Episcopal. In their 5th preseason game, the Falcons defeated Archbishop Carroll. Sr. Point Guard Hanif Edwards (one of the fastest PG’s I have EVER seen) started the game off with NC’s first 2 points off of a steal from the opposing PG. He finished the game with 11 points, 3 steals, and 5 assists. Sophomore F/C Shahid (Lil’ Shaq) Paulhill managed to slow Carroll’s big guy, Dutch Gaitley, and ended the game with 11 points, 1 block, and 7 rebounds. With his combination of speed and size WATCH OUT, he is gonna be a beast. Another piece of NC’s “Edwards” trio, Chris, a big man with guard skills, chipped in with 10 points, 2 blks, and 9 rebounds.
The “Slick Hot Man” of the Game:
With his performance, Sr. G/F Nate Edwards showed why he is one of NC’s team captains and one of the Northern Division’s best players. Nate had a great game, scoring 20 points, and adding 9 rebounds & 2 assists. With his leadership on the court, his shut down perimeter defense, and his scoring skills Nate has proven he’s ready to step up in the Catholic league this year and on the next level in the future.
